Richard R. Amburn, 81, of rural Hillsboro passed away at 6:02 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, in Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
Richard was born Sept. 18, 1939, in Hartford City, Indiana, the son of the late Thomas and Thelma (Denton) Amburn. Richard was raised in Parker, Indiana and graduated from Parker High School in 1958. He met his future bride at a New Years Eve party, but it wasn’t until a later meeting that they began dating. He married Betty June Richardson on March 11, 1961, at Muncie.

Richard farmed in Cain Township for 30 years and later worked as a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #103 in Indianapolis. He retired from his heavy equipment operating in 2004.
In his pastime he enjoyed hanging out with the guys at Jon’s Gas Station in Hillsboro. He and his wife, Betty enjoyed their winters for 20 years in Lakeland, Florida. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to fish. He was an avid I.U. basketball fan.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Betty of nearly 60 years; son Jeffrey W. (Tina) Amburn of Anderson; three daughters, Kathleen (Ray) Reissmann, Howard, Brenda (Jim) Seibold, Clinton and Nancy L. Thomas (companion Scott Gorham), Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren, Mayme, Malia, Anastasia, Hayley, Kayla, Trista and Cassidy; five great-grandchildren, Ramsey, Hazel, Evelyn, Addison and Emily; and several brothers and sisters.

A private gathering of family will be held at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. All family members are required to wear masks and social distance one another.
